The native cultures are the living pillar of our origin, their unique and unrepeatable beliefs correspond to the cultural richness that embraces our territory in the purest form. To the extent that our current society recognizes this, we can aspire to become a more just, balanced and harmonious society.

 

1| Ara

According to Maleku legend, the Great Spirit created a sacred bird called the scarlet macaw, which symbolizes the Creation of the Universe and represents the Great Spirit who created everything.

2| Kill The Lion

The lionfish is native to the Indo-Pacific area. In recent years and by human action, it has invaded the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts of America, including the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Ecological studies have shown that they can cause reductions of up to 90% in the abundance of reef fish in invaded areas. It is a very aggressive species which has no natural predators in the Americas, so the growth of its population endangers the natural life of the reefs.

3| Awá

In the Bribri culture of Costa Rica, Awá is the person who serves as an intermediary between the individual, the divinity and the community. A person of great power based on knowledge and communication with the magical and the supernatural world. The Awá searches for the origin and relationships of each situation, ailment or illness, in order to understand it in an integral way.

4| Dawargö

In Cabecar it corresponds to the great protective spirit of all wild animals.

5| Wítkela Minawá

In Cabécar: "Gracias Mamás", in honor of motherhood and the memory of Mamá (Thelma Baldares Carazo) and Mamita (Otilia Castillo Méndez).

6| Quiateot

In the Chorotega culture, he is the God of rain, the one who sends the water and makes the thunder and lightning.

7| Cuasrán

Boruca warrior, he watches over the blood that runs through the forest and feels the breath that passes through the trees, Cuasran watches over his children from evil, from pride, from those who want to silence them, he fights for his children who promise life, who want peace and light.

8| Hysteria

Metaphorically it is presented as the current "humanized" state of planet earth in times when human beings are endangering the balance of life and subjecting the planet's species to extinction. The desperate cry of the planet that we do not end up hearing.

9| Tsàitami

Bribri legend about the origin of the sea. Woman Sea. She was stung by the serpent staff and from the belly of her corpse grew the giant tree, which, having been blown by Sibö, fell and became the sea.
